How long do fresh chocolates last?
Unlike the chocolate you find in your local supermarket, fresh chocolates don’t contain artificial preservatives or palm oil to extend their shelf life. Thus over 99% of the market is 'ambient' or 'shelf-stable' meaning that the chocolate can sit on a normal supermarket shelf for 12-18 months.
Instead, at R&A we use the best quality sustainable cocoa, and fresh British ingredients. Organic fresh cream replaces palm oil and wild honey replaces artificial preservatives. Our utterly delicious ingredients are what give Russell & Atwell fresh chocolates their smooth, rich taste and sublime melt-in-the-mouth texture.
Because of this, our chocolates have a maximum shelf-life of 12 weeks shelf-life when first produced in individual batches. We always ensure your chocolates have at least 2 weeks shelf-life on arrival, although in reality the average we send out at is about 6 weeks, and we really doubt you will need anything like that long!
How to store fresh chocolates.
To retain the authentic taste of the ingredients, our fresh chocolates need to be kept chilled in the fridge and eaten within a few weeks.
For the best experience, take your chocolates out of the fridge 5-10 minutes before eating.
How do fresh chocolates stay fresh in the post?
We often get asked how we can send our chocolates by post. The secret is the little drop of honey, which acts as a natural preservative to keep the chocolates deliciously fresh while they are on your way to you. All our packs are sent out by RM24, and should arrive within 1-2 days.
Taste the difference!
We’re confident you’ll be able to taste the difference between our fresh chocolates and regular long-life chocolate. So, isn’t it a time you gave fresh chocolates a try and started storing your chocolate in the fridge?
